Arnost Lustig

Arnost Lustig, born in 1926, was sixteen when the Nazis sent him first to Thereseinstadt, later to Auschwitz—where his father died in the gas chambers—and finally to Buchenwald. He left Czechoslovakia in 1968 and settled in the United States. He lives in Washington D.C., where he is a professor of literature at American University.
